Dear [Customer First Name],

Due to recent events (those events being war and airstrikes in your region directly or indirectly caused by our terrible government), your data may be at risk (of being, unfortunately, blown up)

(I know this may not be your foremost thought right now given that our country’s leaders have talked about things like obliterating an entire neighboring nation, taking out water supplies, etc, etc, but…) Know that our organization is taking steps to ensure operational resilience in your region.

Meanwhile, we encourage you to take action to ensure your data is backed up and well protected in the event that you lose access. (Of course, I have no idea what your life is like day to day: how safe you are, how safe your family is, or if you give two hoots about data.)

Please carefully review the guidance linked here and reach out if you have questions. (Questions about the data thing, that is. We won’t have much in the way of answers about the broader geopolitical struggles. We only wish we could do something, so this paltry effort to help in some small way is an offering. You should have seen us, me and these engineers, working out how to say this, to offer this, this tiny dove.)

We appreciate your partnership and continued trust in our organization (and frankly, feel a lot of cognitive dissonance around interregional conflict in general. Your team and ours, we’ve been business partners, not enemies. Our enemies are our competitors, those rat bastards! Not that we’d, like, employ violence against them, of course. It’s not the West Side Story of Silicon Valley, just a fun feud. But you and us? We’re not feuding at all. We’re on the same side. So it’s disorienting to write this knowing that our team over here’s tax dollars are the reason your team over there’s infrastructure is at risk. We’re hoping maybe this email will reach you through the noise and help in some small, strange way. And maybe you’ll hear the words we didn’t write. The ones that say Hey, listen, between you and us? Between the lines? We’re sorry.).

Sincerely,

Customer Support
